Action of Pikovit

All varieties of Pikovit replenish and prevent deficiency of vitamins and microelements in the body of children of different ages, and also contribute to the normalization of protein, mineral and nitrogen metabolism.

Vitamin B 1 necessary for carbohydrate, amino acid and energy metabolism. A deficiency of this vitamin can lead to fatigue and depression in a child, and in severe cases – to beriberi disease (lack of appetite, constipation, nausea, crawling sensation in the legs, pain in the calves while walking, poor sleep, tearfulness, irritability, decreased pain sensitivity in the feet).

Vitamin B 2 necessary for the normal functioning of energy metabolism in the body. With its deficiency, neuropathies and anemia develop.

Vitamin B 6 necessary for the synthesis of substances that transmit impulses in the central nervous system, the exchange of red blood cells and the formation of niacin (vitamin PP). Therefore, with a deficiency of vitamin B 6, the body develops stomatitis, dermatitis and damage to the central nervous system.

Vitamin A necessary for normal epithelial synthesis and good vision.

Vitamin D necessary for the absorption of calcium and mineralization of bones and teeth.

Vitamin C improves the absorption of iron, and also ensures the normal course of a wide range of biochemical reactions in the body.

Calcium And phosphorus necessary to maintain the normal condition of bones and teeth.

Instructions for use

Syrup Pikovit 1+ (for children) – instructions for use

The syrup should be taken orally, measuring the required amount with a special measuring spoon located in the package with the bottle. If the measuring spoon is lost, then you can measure the syrup with a teaspoon, given that its volume is 5 ml. That is, one teaspoon is approximately 5 ml of syrup. The syrup can be swallowed in its pure form or mixed into tea, juice, purees and other liquid or semi-liquid drinks and dishes for the child. The drug can be taken regardless of meals.
  • Children aged 1 – 3 years – give 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 2 times a day;
  • Children aged 4 – 6 years – give 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 3 times a day;
  • Children aged 7 – 14 years – give 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 3 – 4 times a day.
The average duration of use of Pikovit is 1 month, however, if necessary, the syrup can be given to the child for 2 months without interruption. After this, you should definitely take a break for 1 - 3 months, after which you can take a second course of taking Pikovit. In principle, repeated courses of taking syrup can be done in all cases, maintaining intervals between them of 1 - 3 months.

When taking Pikovit syrup, the child’s urine may turn yellow, which, however, is not a sign of trouble.

Benzoic acid in the syrup can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.

Pikovit tablets (4+) – instructions for use

The tablets are coated and are intended for resorption in the oral cavity. Therefore, the tablets should be left in the mouth until completely dissolved, after which be sure to swallow all the accumulated saliva. It is advisable not to intensively dissolve the tablet, but simply wait for it to dissolve in the oral cavity.

Before and after taking Pikovit, it is advisable not to drink or eat food for 10-15 minutes so that all released vitamins are completely absorbed from the oral mucosa. However, if the tablet causes dryness in the mouth or leaves a subjectively unpleasant aftertaste, then after resorption, you can drink a few sips of still water.

The dosage of Pikovit tablets depends on the age of the child and is as follows:

  • Children aged 4 – 6 years – give 1 tablet 4 – 5 times a day;
  • Children aged 7 – 14 years – give 1 tablet 5 – 7 times a day.
The duration of the course of taking Pikovit tablets for children of different ages is 20 - 30 days. However, to improve appetite, the drug can be given to the child for 2 months. After completing the course of using Pikovit, it is necessary to take a break for 1 - 3 months, after which you can take vitamins again.

While taking Pikovit tablets, the urine may turn yellow, which is not a sign of trouble and goes away without a trace after stopping the vitamins.

Taking Pikovit tablets in high dosages can provoke headaches and diarrhea in children of all ages.

Due to the presence of E124 and E110 dyes in the tablets, Pikovit can provoke the development of allergic reactions with severe asthmatic symptoms. The highest risk of developing such asthmatic reactions in response to taking Pikovit is in children who are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin).

The dosage of Pikovit Complex is the same for children aged 3 to 14 years, and is 2 tablets per day. It is advisable not to take both tablets at once, but to space them out over time so that vitamins and minerals enter the child’s body in small portions and are completely absorbed. It is optimal to give Pikovit Complex to a child one tablet twice a day - with breakfast and lunch. It is recommended not to use the drug during dinner, as it may cause difficulty falling asleep due to its general invigorating effect.

The duration of use of Pikovit Complex is 1 month. Repeated courses of admission can be carried out, maintaining intervals between them of at least 1 - 3 months.

Pikovit Complex tablets contain sugar, so they are not recommended for children with diabetes.

Pikovit Omega 3 and Pikovit Prebiotic (3+) – instructions for use

Pikovit Omega 3 and Pikovit Prebiotic syrup is intended for use by children aged 3 to 14 years. It is recommended to give the drugs to children of different ages (3 - 14 years) in the same dosage - 5 ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) once a day immediately after meals. It is optimal to take the syrup in the morning so that its activating effect extends to the period of wakefulness. The syrup does not need to be washed down, but if the child wants to do this, then you should give him any drink, such as juice, water, tea, fruit drink, etc.

The duration of taking Pikovit Omega 3 syrup or Pikovit Prebiotic is 1 month. Repeated courses of taking the drug can be carried out, maintaining intervals between them of at least 1 - 3 months.

Before measuring out the required amount of syrup, the bottle should be shaken vigorously. After use, the bottle with syrup should be tightly closed with a lid and stored in a dark place.

Pikovit Plus (4+) – instructions for use

The drug Pikovit Plus is intended for children 4 – 14 years old. It is necessary to explain to the child that he must chew the tablet well in his mouth, and then swallow all the pulp and saliva. The tablets should be taken with meals in age-appropriate dosages.
  • Children aged 4 – 11 years – give 1 tablet once a day (preferably in the morning);
  • Children aged 11 – 14 years – give 1 tablet twice a day (preferably in the morning and at lunch).
It is optimal to take Pikovit Plus tablets before 18.00 in the evening, since they have a general tonic and activating effect, which is best suited for the period of wakefulness. If you take Pikovit Plus vitamins later than 18.00, the child may have difficulty falling asleep.

If a child needs to take two tablets a day, then they should be spaced out and taken one at a time with breakfast and lunch, and not both at once.

The duration of use of Pikovit Plus is usually 1 month. Repeated courses of therapy can be repeated, maintaining intervals between them of at least 1 - 3 months.

Pikovit Plus should not be taken in dosages higher than recommended, as this can cause diarrhea in the child.

The tablets contain lactose and aspartame and are therefore not recommended for children suffering from glucose/fructose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency.

Pikovit Forte (7+) – instructions for use

Chewable tablets Pikovit Forte are intended for children and adolescents aged 7 – 14 years. They should be taken after meals, chewing thoroughly in the mouth and swallowing all the resulting pulp and saliva. There is no need to take the tablet, but if such a need arises (for example, a subjectively unpleasant taste in the mouth, irritation of the mucous membrane, etc.), then this can be done.

Pikovit Forte is given to children aged 7–14 years, one tablet once a day. The duration of taking the drug is usually 1 month, but if the child has poor appetite, Pikovit Forte can be given to the child for 2 months in a row. Repeated courses of taking Pikovit Forte can be carried out, maintaining intervals between them of at least 1 - 3 months.

If it is necessary to take Pikovit Forte simultaneously with other vitamin and mineral complexes, you should consult your doctor.

Children with diabetes can take Pikovit Forte, but remember that one tablet contains 0.6 g of maltitol, which requires insulin for absorption. Typically, the absorption of maltitol requires a small amount of insulin, as a result of which there is no need to increase the dosage or frequency of insulin injections. However, in rare cases, children with diabetes while taking Pikovit Forte may need to increase the dosage of insulin, since a relatively larger amount is required due to the need to utilize maltitol.

Pikovit Yunik (3+) – instructions for use

The tablets are intended for children 3 – 14 years old. They should be taken with meals, thoroughly chewing the tablet in the mouth and swallowing all saliva. The daily dosage of Pikovit Unique for children of different ages (3 – 14 years old) is 2 tablets, but it is recommended to take them not at once, but divided into two doses per day, optimally in the morning and at lunch. It is not recommended to take Pikovit Yunik vitamins in the evening, as they have an activating effect, which may cause the child to have problems falling asleep.

Children should not be given more than 2 tablets of Pikovit Yunik per day, since exceeding the recommended dosage can cause diarrhea.

The usual duration of use of Pikovit Unique is 1 month. Repeated courses of vitamins can be taken, maintaining intervals between them of at least 1 - 3 months.

The tablets contain various simple sugars (carbohydrates) and are therefore not recommended for children suffering from glucose/fructose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency.

special instructions

It is not recommended to use any variety of Pikovit with other vitamin preparations.

Overdose

An overdose with any type of Pikovit is theoretically possible, but very unlikely. Moreover, with long-term use of any type of Pikovit (longer than 1 month) in high dosages, at least 3 times higher than recommended, only an overdose of vitamins A, D and E or minerals is possible, since they can accumulate in the body. An overdose of other vitamins is impossible, since they do not accumulate in tissues, and their excess is quickly excreted in urine or feces.

In addition, long-term use of any type of Pikovit in high dosages can provoke peripheral neuropathy (excess vitamin B6), and the use of Pikovit D and Pikovit Forte can cause diarrhea or flatulence (excess maltitol).

To treat an overdose, you should immediately stop taking Pikovit and not take any vitamins. If necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out aimed at maintaining the normal functioning of vital organs and systems.

Interaction with other drugs

For all varieties of Pikovit, no significant interactions with other drugs have been established.

Side effects

Varieties of vitamin-mineral complexes Pikovit are usually well tolerated by children, but in rare cases they can provoke the following side effects from various organs and systems:
  • Allergic reactions (skin rash, Quincke's edema, etc.);
  • Diarrhea (only for Pikovit Forte and Pikovit D due to the presence of maltitol).
If a child experiences side effects in response to taking any type of Pikovit, then you should immediately stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Contraindications for use

Varieties of Pikovit are contraindicated for use in children with the following conditions or diseases:
  • Individual hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to any components of the drugs;

Pikovit is a vitamin and mineral complex intended for children of all ages. Available in several dosage forms. In this article we will analyze all types of the drug Pikovit and the features of their use.

Pikovit is produced in Slovenia and is a whole line of children's vitamins. They differ in the composition and dosage of nutrients that meet the needs of the child depending on his age. Pikovit can be taken by children from 1 year to 14 years. Children older than this age are recommended to select other vitamin complexes.

In total, there are 9 varieties of Pikovit. For ease of perception, we show them in table form.

Action of Pikovit

The Pikovit vitamin complex replenishes the lack of vitamins and microelements in the child’s body, and also helps to normalize metabolism.

Vitamin A is necessary for all synthesis processes in the body. In addition, it improves eye health, mucous membranes and skin condition.

Vitamin B1 has a positive effect on the functioning of the heart and has a beneficial effect on the state of the nervous system. B2 takes part in the regeneration of cells and other tissues. B6 supports healthy gums, teeth, and nervous system. Vitamin B12 is responsible for normalizing erythropoiesis. In general, B vitamins help the body produce enzymes that are responsible for metabolism.

Vitamin C is involved in a number of processes that occur in the body. It is responsible for the oxidation of biologically active substances, blood clotting, and restoration of body tissues. Vitamin C also stimulates the production of steroid hormones, strengthens the immune system and reduces the effects of inflammatory processes.

Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium, as well as for the mineralization of teeth and bones. Vitamins PP and d-panthenol are involved in protein metabolism and fatty acid synthesis. Without them, normal energy production is impossible.

Indications for use

Pikovit for children must be taken in the following cases:

  1. As a preventative measure for lack of minerals and vitamins (lack of appetite, poor nutrition, overwork).
  2. With antibiotic therapy.
  3. With high mental, physical and psycho-emotional stress.
  4. To strengthen the immune system and enhance the body's resistance to various diseases.
  5. To ensure optimal development of the central nervous system, brain, vision.

Use for the treatment of vitamin deficiency (vitaminosis and hypovitaminosis) in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. Composition of the drug.

Pikovit- a combined preparation containing a complex of vitamins and minerals, which are important factors in metabolic processes.

Retinol (vitamin A) is involved in the synthesis of various substances (proteins, lipids, mucopolysaccharides) and ensures the normal function of the skin, mucous membranes, and the organ of vision.

Colecalciferol (vitamin D3) maintains the balance of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Thiamine (vitamin B1) normalizes the activity of the heart and promotes the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Riboflavin (vitamin B2) promotes tissue regeneration processes, incl. skin cells.

D-panthenol (vitamin B5) is part of coenzyme A, which plays an important role in the processes of acetylation and oxidation. Activates metabolic processes in tissues.

Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) helps maintain the structure and function of bones, teeth, and gums; influences erythropoiesis and promotes the normal functioning of the nervous system.

Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) is involved in erythropoiesis and contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system.

B vitamins are involved in the formation of various enzymes that regulate metabolism in the body.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is involved in the oxidation of a number of biologically active substances, regulation of metabolism in connective tissue, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting and tissue regeneration, stimulates the formation of steroid hormones, and normalizes capillary permeability. Vitamin C increases the body's resistance to infections and reduces inflammatory reactions.

Folic acid (vitamin Bc) stimulates erythropoiesis.

Calcium is involved in the formation of bone tissue, blood clotting, transmission of nerve impulses, and contraction of skeletal and smooth muscles.

Phosphorus, along with calcium, is involved in the formation of bones and teeth, and is also involved in energy metabolism processes.

Side effect

  • allergic reactions.

Contraindications

  • hypervitaminosis A;
  • hypervitaminosis D;
  • children under 4 years of age (tablets), up to 7 years of age (Pikovit Forte tablets);
  • phenylketonuria (due to the presence of aspartame containing phenylalanine in the drug);
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not provided.

Use in children

Contraindicated in children under 4 years of age (tablets), under 7 years of age (Pikovit Forte tablets).

special instructions

When using Pikovit, possible yellow staining of urine is completely harmless and is explained by the presence of riboflavin in the drug.

High doses of glycerol can cause headaches and gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea).

Pikovit contains azo dyes E124 and E110, which can cause a hypersensitivity reaction with an asthmatic component. Such reactions are more often observed in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid.

The drug contains 192 mg of lactose, 611 mg of sucrose, 160 mg of glucose and 134 mg of sorbitol, so the drug is not recommended for children with congenital intolerance to glucose and fructose, glucose/galactose malabsorption syndromes and sucrase/isomaltase deficiency.

Drug interactions

The presence of calcium in the drug causes a delay in the absorption of tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones in the intestine. An interval of at least 2 hours should be observed between doses of drugs.

Vitamin C enhances the effect and side effects of sulfonamides (including crystalluria).

When diuretics from the thiazides group are used simultaneously with Pikovit, the likelihood of hypercalcemia increases.

When using Pikovit, you should not exceed the recommended daily dose. If you accidentally take a high dose, immediately consult a doctor.

Pikovit Omega 3 is a syrup that contains omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), as well as 10 vitamins.

Omega-3 PUFAs (fish oil) are essential for the normal development of children over 3 years of age. The following products contain omega 3 acids: marine fish meat, pollock and cod liver, some vegetable oils, walnuts, wheat germ oil. Unfortunately, this food set cannot be classified as a favorite treat that a child is ready to eat every day. Therefore, some babies need special vitamin preparations that would compensate for the deficiency of omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins. Pikovit syrup with omega 3 PUFAs will be of interest to parents who are concerned about the development of their child.

The PUFAs contained in the drug have neuroprotective properties and have a positive effect on vision. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are natural antioxidants, reduce the risk of cancer cell formation, and have anti-inflammatory properties.

Omega 3 for children has a positive effect on serotonin metabolism in the brain, creating a normal mood in the baby, providing sufficient cognitive abilities, as well as interest in the world around them.

Thus, a child needs omega 3 PUFAs in the form of preparations with a sufficient dose, or in the form of dishes rich in these substances. Pikovit Omega-3 syrup also contains:

B vitamins are indispensable in the formation of nerve fibers, which are responsible for the formation of functional and anatomical connections between neurons, and are the morphological basis of memory, attention, thinking, speech, some practical skills, that is, all higher brain functions. Vitamin B12 is important in the prevention of pernicious anemia.

Antioxidant group A, E, C - slows down the processes of cell damage by free radicals, reduces the risk of tumor cell formation, is involved in vision, and is necessary for the formation of immune protective factors.

Vitamin D - regulates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, thus influencing the strengthening of bone tissue. This group of compounds (ergocalciferol, cholecalciferol) is widely used in pediatrics for the prevention of rickets. The relevance of taking this vitamin as part of a multivitamin complex is due to the variability of the independent production of this substance in the body: vitamin D is synthesized and included in biochemical processes only in the presence of sunlight.

Fatty acids - contained in fish oil, are very easily decomposed, so vitamin E is needed to protect against oxidation.

Vitamins A and D - have high biological activity and enhance the effect of omega fatty acids.
