Dragon's Blood is a water-glycol extract from the resin of the Croton lechleri tree. Propylene glycol, on the basis of which the extract is made, is extracted from natural plant raw materials - corn sugar.

Chemical composition of the resin:
Alpha-copaine, alpha-tuchin, alpha-penine and alpha-calacorin, beta-caryophylline, beta-penine, beta-elemin and betaine, borneol and bincatriol, camphin and cedrusin, cuparophenol and catechin, decosterol and D-limonin, dimethylcedrusin and dihydrobenzofuran, eugenol and gallocatechin, dipentine and efparophenol, gamma-terpinine, isoboldine, gamma-terpineol, corberine A and B, linalul and lignin, magnofloryl, myrtsyn, methylthymol, norisoboldine, tannin and taspin, procyanidin, vanillin and terpin-4, proanthocyadinin and p-cemin.
Due to the presence of taspin (a rare alkaloid that acts as an inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase and promotes tissue scarring) and polyphenols (catechin and proanthocyanidins), it stimulates the production of collagen and the migration of fibroblasts, which allows you to quickly relieve inflammation and accelerate the scarring of wounds.
Proanthocyanidins are the strongest antioxidants known today. They are 50 times more effective than vitamin E.

This is interesting:
The first written mention of the medicinal properties of the Croton lechleri tree and its resin was recorded in Indian writings of the 16th century. For centuries, Peruvian Indians used Dragon's Blood to stop bleeding, disinfect wounds and speed up healing.
The tree itself belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, scientifically Croton lechleri, Croton salitaris or Croton planostigma, and popularly Sangre de Drado or Dragon's Blood. It grows in the central part of the Peruvian jungle.
Tree resin is used to make our extract. An adult tree grows up to 25 meters, having a trunk with a diameter of up to 35 centimeters.
The Indians also used the resin internally to heal internal bleeding, ulcers, accelerate the healing of bones during fractures, treat viral diseases and generally increase immunity.

Early in the morning, when the first rays of the rising sun barely touched the golden weather vane on the spire of the Albert Tower, the tallest building of the New Royal Palace, and therefore the entire Capital, two people entered the reception room of His Majesty's Office.

The first was still a fairly young woman, tall, with a beautiful, noble face framed by a short chestnut bob. She wore a formal black traveling suit with discreet silver embroidery and high military-style leather boots. At the woman’s left hip hung a curved knight’s dagger in a black scabbard with a silver device decorated with an ornament of laurel and oak branches. On its hilt, an attentive observer would have seen the monogram of the late Louis the First, the father of the reigning King Arthur, while the gaze of a less attentive observer would inevitably linger on the magnificent scarlet ruby mounted in the head of the hilt.

The second was a very young girl, no older than seventeen years old, noticeably shorter than her adult companion, and generally somehow thinner, more petite. Her thick black hair was neatly braided into a long, almost waist-length braid. The girl's costume differed from the clothes of the first woman except in size. There was also a dirk - with a straight blade, in a simple steel sheath. This could equally likely belong to a knight, a squire, or even a garrison sergeant. Perhaps the knight's bracelet on her left hand could tell about the girl's status - or equally well, its absence there - but the long sleeves of the camisole completely hid her wrists, leaving this mystery unsolved.

From behind a long, wide table covered in scarlet cloth that divided the reception room in half, a gray-haired Chief Chamberlain in a colorful court caftan stood up to meet those who entered quickly, but without the slightest hint of fussy haste, leaning heavily on a long ceremonial staff.

- My respects, Countess. Good morning, Viscountess. His Majesty is waiting for you in the library,” he said with a slight hoarseness in his voice, greeting those who entered. “Please,” he made an inviting gesture with his hand.

“Thank you, my lord,” the eldest guest nodded briefly.

Past the post of the guards, frozen in their ceremonial armor so motionless that they were distinguished from the magnificent statues decorating the room only by the faint fluttering of their plumes in the warm spring breeze penetrating through the wide open window, the Countess and Viscountess walked along a bright, wide corridor and stopped in front of a slightly recessed arch massive double door. The woman looked at the girl from head to toe for the last time and, obviously, was quite pleased with what she saw. The next moment, the door in front of them began to slowly open, inviting them to proceed inside.

The royal library was a huge hall with a high vaulted ceiling, which could easily accommodate a convoy of knights in full combat gear, and they would probably still have a little room left for demonstrative rearrangements in all three planes. It had no windows, and all the walls from floor to ceiling were covered with shelves densely packed with assorted old paper books, most of which probably arrived in the New World from the Old World in the wagon train of Anton the First, a famous bookworm, or even in ancient times, with asatas or even pittas. Most likely, the rest of the Galactic Kingdom, including the semi-autonomous Grand Duchy of the Border and even Dragon's Angle, which was seized more than a century and a half ago, would not have accumulated even a hundredth of this stunning collection of wisdom from bygone centuries.

His Majesty, a stately man of about forty or forty-five with a short haircut that was once black, like a raven’s wing, now slightly touched by the first gray hair, and an open, probably one could even say simple, if we weren’t talking about a powerful monarch, face , in a snow-white guards uniform with gold epaulettes, sat at the table, bending over a thick tome bound in worn leather. Having taken no more than a couple of steps forward, both guests froze on the threshold. The man's dress excluded a curtsy, but the countess also did not kneel, as befits a knight, only bowing her proud head respectfully. Her younger companion, modestly lowering her gaze, bent her knee.

After a pause of no more than a second - very quickly: court etiquette allowed it to drag on as long as desired - the king slammed the book shut and turned his gaze to those who had entered. A sincere smile lit up his face, he stood up from the table and stepped towards the visitors.

- Countess! I am immensely glad to see you at court again! Rise up, young lady! – this was already intended for the girl.

“Always at Your Majesty’s service,” the woman said, turning her gaze from the shiny toes of her boots to the sovereign. Her companion meanwhile rose to her feet. – Let me introduce you to my stepdaughter: Alexandra, Viscountess de Teraco.

The girl bowed.

“I’ve heard about you, Viscountess,” the king smiled again. – I’m very glad to meet you. I hope the Countess, like that strict stepmother from the fairy tale, does not force you to dig in the ashes day and night?

Confused, the girl could not find anything to answer.

“Unless in the ashes of the burnt castles of Your Majesty’s defeated enemies,” the countess laughed and came to her rescue.

- How was your trip? – the king asked, turning to her again and thereby allowing the embarrassed young viscountess to come to her senses a little. - I hope without incident?

“Royal space, as it should be, is clean and safe,” said the Countess. “But in the space of the Duchy of Rug, they tried to attack our convoy twice.

- Is that so?! What a disgrace! – the owner frowned. “I hope none of your people were hurt?” Have you already filed a complaint with my Office?

– There is no one to complain about, Your Majesty. Both times, without suffering any losses, we easily dealt with the scoundrels. Unfortunately, only three “saddles” were captured relatively undamaged; the rest, alas, cannot be restored. As the law dictates, we brought them on a hitch to the Capital and handed them over to the Shipyard.

“I recognize Anna,” the king laughed cheerfully, calling the countess by name for the first time during the conversation. “I will order that, after restoration and rewiring, these three “saddles” be transferred to your county. As well as three more new ones - in addition to the usual annual quota.

“Thank you,” she bowed her head. – Your Majesty’s generosity is well known!

“Being generous to the faithful is the sacred duty of any monarch,” the king shrugged. – Would you like something to drink on the way? Guilt? Or maybe cognac?

“I rely entirely on Your Majesty’s choice.” I am sure that, as always, he will turn out to be impeccable.

- And you, Alexandra?

The Viscountess glanced at her stepmother. She nodded barely noticeably.

“If you allow me, the same is true for me as for the countess,” the girl said quietly.

After a couple of minutes, all three were already sitting in soft leather chairs around a low coffee table, holding elegant glass glasses with twisted stems in their hands.

“The wine is magnificent, as is any wine that comes from Your Majesty’s cellars,” Anna said, taking a sip of the aromatic drink. “But I’m sure you summoned me so quickly to the Capital not only so that I could enjoy his wonderful bouquet?”

“You are right, as always, Countess,” answered the king, in turn taking a small sip. - Alas, not only for this. I need help from the Terako house again.

- Is everything so bad? – Anna frowned.

- Not yet. But if you don't do anything, things can get worse. Tell me, Countess, where do you think the main threat to the Kingdom is coming from now?

“If we are talking about a strategic threat, then, without a doubt, from Aliens,” she answered without hesitation.

“That’s right,” the king readily agreed. – Even twice is true. Aliens are our main global threat. Forty years ago, during the Second Great March, we beat them up badly and drove them far from our borders, but only at the cost of a colossal effort of all our forces. And this despite the fact that at that time we still had very significant reserves at our disposal, because very little time had passed since the establishment of this damned - excuse me, Viscountess - Barrier between the Old and New World. Now we do not have these reserves, and the Barrier does not allow us to replenish them. The strangers, having accumulated strength, will sooner or later return, just as they returned after the First Great Campaign. Then it took them one hundred and six years, and we can hardly hope that this time they will give us fundamentally more time to prepare. I can’t imagine how humanity will get out of this situation, unless a miracle happens and the Barrier falls. Another thing is that, fortunately, Chu’s third breakthrough, which may well turn out to be the last for the New World, is not a prospect for tomorrow or even the day after tomorrow. At the moment, I am much more worried about people. Namely, Duke Florenzi, he looked at the Countess, clearly expecting some kind of reaction from her.

Dragon's Blood

The morning came into its own and painted the sky in dawn colors. The first rays of the sun ran gently across the roofs, looked into the stained glass windows, and sparkled with silvery sparks on the scales of the gargoyles hovering above the palace... The constant guards of the island were finishing their night patrols and were preparing to stand like stone sculptures on the roof until the next twilight.

Nature was steadily throwing off the shackles of sleep. The darkness retreated to the ring of mountains in the center of the island. The majestic forest and the endless valley that stretched almost to the southern shore were illuminated by the light of the winter sun.

Despite the early hour and the established habit of the nobles to wake up closer to lunch, two opponents had already fought in a duel in the training hall. Their blades flashed quickly in the air, finding a gap in the enemy’s defense, making counterattacks and setting up blocks.

Despite his obvious skill, the middle-aged man was clearly inferior to his opponent in speed and agility. His young dark-haired opponent reacted with lightning speed to every move and managed to dodge or expose the daga to the attack.

When the weapons crossed once again, and the faces of the opponents, not only in this sparring, but also in life, were nearby, the brunette grinned and remarked in a secular tone:

I heard that you are having problems with an old debt: Lord Daron demands that you pay it off as soon as possible.

It's none of your business, Engar. - The first adviser withdrew the blade with effort and took a step back.

If I were you, I wouldn’t be arrogant and would behave more simply. If you don't find a way to pay, you'll have to say goodbye to your position as Chief Advisor to the Overlord. It must be unpleasant to leave your favorite place? “The lord took a forward stance, and the tip of his blade was right next to the adviser’s nose. Having thus teased his opponent, Engar opened his left leg for a strike, and when de Grange attacked it, he parried, raising his arm into a fighting stance.

The defense was as successful as ever, and Engar could hardly resist the desire to stick his tongue out at the first adviser. They also say that members of his race are weak in fencing...

However, it was too early to rejoice. De Grange was a dangerous politician and an equally dangerous swordsman.

My friend, you are forgetting yourself. “The advisor took advantage of the gap in Lord Engar’s defense and carried out a series of offensive attacks, culminating in a conditional thrust in the shoulder. - You are injured.

As you say. - Engar grinned and transferred the sword to his left hand. He abruptly changed tactics and after a couple of minutes Lord de Grange lost his sword. “Actually, I didn’t want to meet you for these stupid training sessions.” They give me absolutely nothing. - The lord returned the sword to its sheath and brushed a dark lock of hair from his face.

Then why?

I respect you endlessly and want to help. Pay the debt off.

Of course, for a reason. - The Lord smiled.

Oh, I'll ask for nothing in return. - Engar's eyes flashed. - A trifle compared to the amount you owe.

Could you please explain what you mean. - The chief adviser did not want to get involved with the treacherous and unprincipled lord, but the situation was such that there was no choice.

I need your daughter. If she is as good as her mother, I will be the happiest man in the whole sublunary world.

Hardly. - Grunge snorted. - She is shy and not at all as beautiful as you think. You need a girl like His Majesty's favorites.

Let me decide for myself.

Fine. - The adviser nodded, but thought to himself that it was unlikely that his daughter would be submissive.

Yes, Engar can’t stand being with her for two days. Rina is only a seemingly quiet, exemplary lady... she herself doesn’t even understand how similar she is to him. Intelligence and cunning are inherent in all de Granges. They are not so easy to lure into a trap.

I knew you would agree. - The lord bared his teeth. - We'll be a great couple.

“We’ll see how you sing when you meet her,” Lord Engar rubbed his hands with anticipation, barely hiding his gloating. Such a method of harassing an annoying candidate for the position of Chief Advisor had never occurred to him. It’s good if he’s not mistaken about his daughter...

Around the bends of the roads, among sorrows and anxieties,

In a good year or a time of turmoil,

A bard once sang: love, separation,

Everything was mixed up in his speeches...

We all know that Albus Dumbledore discovered twelve uses of dragon blood. But Rowling never focused on this, and therefore did not list them. In this article I will talk about the methods known to me without referring to Dumbledore. I managed to collect them from a variety of sources. Some don't look very nice. I do not at all emphasize that anyone will necessarily use the methods I describe. I just want them to become known.

The use of dragon blood in everyday life and hygiene

In everyday life, dragon blood can be used to prepare certain cleaning products. For example, if a sorceress urgently needs to clean her oven, she can use a product that contains dragon blood. It can be a powder or some kind of solution. You need to clean the oven with it, but try not to overdo it with the product, otherwise the oven may simply be corroded by such a strong cleaner. The most difficult stains will be removed! In addition, the stove will faithfully and devotedly serve its owner for many years, working properly for him.

It also seems to me that such products could be used not only for ovens, but also for kitchen stoves, on which rust often appears, for taps and sinks, which can quickly rust. In general, for items that are susceptible to rusting after a certain amount of time. A product based on dragon's blood will not only help preserve the item in its original form, but will also extend the validity period of this or that device, this or that thing.

And now about the use of dragon blood in hygiene. This component is very successfully used in toothpastes, which are endowed with certain beneficial properties. For example, a paste or powder based on dragon's blood will not only whiten your teeth completely, but will also help cure some sores on the gums and in the mouth, give your breath freshness and a delicious smell, and help strengthen both your gums and teeth. It seems to me that similar pastes could be made for both nails and hair, only in the latter case the amount of dragon blood should be very small, but sufficient for its magical properties to manifest itself. You don’t want to burn your hair or dissolve it. Girls always want to have healthy and strong curls, and some men do not refuse this.

The use of dragon blood in medicine

Dragon's blood helps heal any wound, internal or external. Moreover, it will help heal the wound in record time, thereby possibly saving the life of a person who would not survive long-term treatment. If your wound is bleeding too much, but does not pose a threat to life, with the help of dragon blood you can stop the bleeding, and very quickly. You can also use this component to disinfect an open wound, isolating it from the external environment and from possible bacteria and viruses. If the virus has already entered the body, dragon blood will quickly eliminate it.

If your blood starts to become contaminated, dragon's blood will save you and cleanse it. If your wound is inflamed, it can be easily healed by removing the inflammation with the blood of the dragon. Does anything hurt? The pain will go away if you just use the dragon's blood. Bruises and hematomas - all this can be done by the blood of a dragon. It will relieve swelling and restore blood flow and capillaries. Dragon blood is also known as one of the strongest antioxidants and a good immune booster.

As you can see, dragon blood is widely used in medicine to treat various diseases, injuries and the consequences of battle, fight or brawl. It is a very important component in magical medicine, an indispensable component that really helps save the lives of many people.

Military uses of dragon's blood

In war, people use dragon blood to ensure victory for themselves and their comrades in every possible way. How exactly? If a wizard drenches himself in fresh dragon blood, he can become invincible, invulnerable and indestructible. If his weapon is smeared with fresh dragon blood, it will become stronger than steel, completely impenetrable and durable. Armor with armor will not get in the way in battle and will firmly protect its owner. Military weapons will become poisonous and truly sharp, so much so that the slightest touch to the blade can cause a cut. In general, dragon blood can contribute to large-scale victories and complete invulnerability of warriors. Creating an army that is invulnerable for a time is what it can give. Ideal, light and impenetrable armor, sharpest weapons, invincible wars - it sounds eerie and victorious.

Again, we must not forget about the other side of the coin. If a person is doused or smeared with the blood of a dead dragon, then in this case it can destroy him, since dragon greed will creep into the human soul, which the dragon himself could barely cope with, and for a human being, the fight against such a quality is impossible, unbearable and fatal. Rather, it is not the body that perishes, but the soul. The longer the blood of a dead dragon is on the body, the worse and worse the person smeared with it becomes. You can save such a person by washing off the blood. But if you don't hurry, you can lose his soul.

Drinks with dragon blood

Most often, drinks based on dragon blood have invigorating properties. They tone the human body, invigorate it, and charge it with positivity for the rest of the day! Also, the extraordinary properties of such a drink include confidence in one’s own actions and control of current events. A person who drinks such a drink will be able to solve difficult problems, find the right answers to the questions posed, and will also be ahead of everyone around him, glowing with positivity and bright energy. The drink can also inspire you and allow you to perform heroic deeds.

But we must not forget that every tonic has a second side. If you use these tonics too often, they can become addictive. In other words, your body, without replenishment with such a remedy, will begin to wither and fade; the flame, your spark, will not be able to light up at your request, since there will no longer be diluted dragon blood in your body. So you need to consume such drinks with caution, in small quantities, quite rarely and deliberately!

Dragon's blood in love potion

Since dragons, having chosen a mate, are emotionally connected with their other half, a love potion makes the “victim” who drank it a devoted and faithful half of the one who used this potion. The love potion, which contains dragon blood, is considered the most long-lasting and the most powerful of all existing ones. Such a love potion binds both halves very strongly emotionally. It will act for many years and make your life happy if you really want it.

But, again, the other side of the coin. This love caused by the potion is artificial and unreal. All feelings towards you will be caused by magic, and as soon as the magic disappears, as soon as the potion stops working, all love illusions will be dispelled. But if you overdo it with the amount of blood in the potion, you can make it so that the attention and annoyingness of your significant other will make you run away from her and impatiently wait for the effect of this ill-fated potion to end.

My advice: it is better not to use a love potion under any circumstances, as the feelings it evokes are not real, they are fake. It’s better to wait for real, genuine love, which will be imbued not with the magic of a potion, but with the real magic of feelings, natural and so understandable. True love is much better than hand-crafted love, as it will never fade, never disappear, and never break under the pressure of trials.

How to protect yourself with dragon blood

Dragon's blood can be used for protective purposes. Firstly, it will help protect your home from people who have a negative attitude towards the residents of the house. For example, if you pour the blood of a dragon on the front door, it will warn you about the approach of enemies, changing the original color to black, and can also protect you from envious people. A negative person will receive a severe but not fatal burn when touching the door. This way you can identify ill-wishers and real enemies. Since dragons do not tolerate people with bad intentions, their blood retains a similar property, thereby protecting you from this kind of people.

Secondly, if we really talk about protection, then dragon blood can protect a person from viruses and infections, from serious illnesses and from premature death, which can also be called protection, as well as protection from negative people. After all, diseases, just like people, can cause considerable harm to a person. It's worth protecting yourself from them too. And dragon blood can help with this.

Also, dragon blood can make your clothes impenetrable and your skin strong. After all, this is also protection! Protection from attack and injury, from injury and bruises. Impenetrable, absolute protection. And if you don’t overdo it with dragon blood, you can get truly safe clothing or equipment.

Thus, there are many different ways to use dragon's blood. But we must remember that its receipt is strictly limited, since it is needed more by dragons than by wizards, for obvious reasons. The described methods are found in different worlds, so before using one of them, it is better to make sure that it is effective in a given world.

Historically, resins and juices of various plants are called “dragon’s blood” in different parts of the Earth. It seems that the first to receive this name was the resin of Dracaena vermilion (), which grows on the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean, between Yemen and Somalia. The Socotra residents themselves called this resin “phoenix blood” or “brotherly blood.” The name “Indian cinnabar” was also popular. The resin of the Dracaena cinnabari tree was apparently called “dragon’s blood” by the Greeks or Romans.

Dracaena vermilion, Fr. Socotra

Then this name passed into the languages of the European peoples who inherited the Roman Empire. It was especially entrenched among the Italians (Sangue di Drago), who actively used “dragon blood” in the varnishes with which famous Italian violin makers covered their masterpieces, and among the Spaniards (Sangre de Drago), who in the vast expanses of their colonial empire, namely In the Canary Islands, as well as in South and Central America, many more plants were discovered that produce the same thick red juice or resin. Of course, they also, by analogy, began to call these juices and resins “dragon’s blood” - Sangre de Drago, so not only the resin of the cinnabar-red dracaena became the “dragon’s blood”, but also the resin of the dracaena dracaena and the resins of many species of the genus Croton.
Meanwhile, China had its own dragons and its own dragon’s blood: there this name stuck to the blood-red juice of several plants of the genus Daemonorops. When Chinese goods began to reach Europe, along with tea and carved miniature bone figurines, traders brought the local “dragon’s blood” from there.
In Sumatra, the Moluccas, and the Malay Peninsula, red resin is collected from fruits. Here this resin has its own name - jerang - which has nothing to do with dragons and denotes this very red resin itself. But, it’s difficult to say whether it was thanks to the Europeans, the Chinese, or both, that the “dragon’s blood” combination leaked here. So the Indonesians and Malays export this resin also under the name “dragon’s blood”.
Finally, people in Texas and Mexico call dragon blood sap. Because it's red too.

Rattan palm fruit

Every single one of these juices and resins has been used since time immemorial as dyes and as medicinal plant raw materials. With any “dragon’s blood” someone is healing or trying to heal something. But when a person himself goes into a grove or into the jungle, cuts the bark or resinous layer of the fruit himself, and collects the resin or sap himself, he can be sure of what he is dealing with.

Otherwise - in places where none of the listed plants grow. For example, in Russia. Or in Europe. People order red grains or red liquid in a bottle over the Internet - and in appearance, “dragon’s blood” from demonorops or dracaena is indistinguishable from “dragon’s blood” from croton. It’s not for nothing that they have the same names.

The trouble is that not everyone understands that completely different things and phenomena can have the same name. And that very similar things can act very differently.
Meanwhile, some online stores (especially Chinese) sell something called "dragon's blood" without specifying what plant the product comes from. And is it important! Why? Because the resins of different plants have different compositions and, accordingly, can affect the body differently. Thus, the resin of Croton Lechler (“dragon’s blood” according to the Peruvian-Ecuadorian version) is often used as a liquid bandage, it strengthens the gums, and is also taken orally to treat ulcers and diarrhea. The juice (“dragon’s blood” in Texas) also works as a liquid bandage, but it is not taken orally. Moreover, it is believed that if taken internally, it can cause severe pain and vomiting. “Dragon's blood” from, growing in Socotra and the Canary Islands, can heal wounds; it is also used internally, also to treat ulcers. But the juice of demonorops most likely will not be able to stop the bleeding, and even on the contrary, it may increase the bleeding. When taken orally for an ulcer, it can cause internal bleeding. It is very dangerous. At the same time, “dragon’s blood” in Chinese stores with a high probability may turn out to be demonorops resin.

Dracaena cochinchinensis

Although it may have a source from another plant widespread in China - Dracaena cochinchinensis. Be that as it may, if you intend to take dragon's blood as a dietary supplement, you should be careful and clarify which plant resin you are talking about and what properties it has.

Unfortunately, some popularizers of “dragon’s blood” themselves do not understand well what they are writing and mislead others. On the Internet you can easily find articles claiming, for example, that more than 60 studies have confirmed the healing properties of “dragon’s blood”, and then listing some incredible number of healing properties, sometimes opposite to each other (as in the famous sketch with Leonov in the hospital: “Dilates blood vessels , narrows down any..."). And all with links to research. And these studies were actually carried out. And indeed the results shown. But these were studies of material from DIFFERENT PLANTS. And if a study has confirmed the healing and antidiarrheal properties of the resin of Croton lechleri, this in no way applies to the juice of Jatropha dioica, and if the study has found radioprotective properties in the resin of Dracaena cochinchinensis, this does not apply to the resin of Calamus rotang or Daemonorops draco.
Do not buy "dragon's blood" from sellers who cannot accurately indicate which plant it comes from. Take care of yourself.
