The construction of the Road Clinic began in 1931, in accordance with the instructions of the People's Commissariat of Railways, and was completed on April 15, 1938.

The clinic received its first patients in May 1938. The estimated capacity of this institution was 3,000 visits per day. In addition to the main medical and diagnostic departments, two dispensaries were opened - anti-tuberculosis and dermatovenereological, children's and women's consultations, a department for serving children of toddlers and school age, a blood transfusion point, a physiotherapy department with hydrotherapy and a mud bath, a sanitary checkpoint, a pharmacy and a club.

Taking into account the specifics of railway workers - hard physical labor, high mental stress, constant concentration of attention, responsibility for the lives of hundreds of passengers - railway medicine was created.

Patients who came to the polyclinic were accommodated in a one-story house located next to the polyclinic; a boarding house was organized for those in need of a second visit to the doctor the next day.

During the Great Patriotic War from a direct hit during enemy bombardments, the clinic building was damaged, and the supply of electricity and water was cut off. Despite the hunger, the cold in an unheated room and the constant threat from the air and artillery shelling, the clinic did not stop working for a single day.

In the early 1950s, a hospital with 170 beds was opened at the United Polyclinic, and a Road Children's Hospital with 55 beds was opened in a separate building.
