Therapeutic and pharmacological action

Mastodinone is a herbal preparation, and its pharmacological and therapeutic properties are due to the effects of the medicinal herbs included in the composition.

Basics pharmachologic effect Mastodinone – dopaminergic. This means that the drug enhances the production of dopamine in brain structures and accelerates the functioning of the corresponding receptors. Under the influence of accelerated dopamine metabolism in the pituitary gland, the production of the hormone prolactin decreases, which, in turn, is a direct stimulator of the synthesis of various gonadotropic hormones, such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), etc. Against the background of a decrease in the production of prolactin, its excessive influence is reduced and the synthesis of gonadotropic hormones that regulate the functioning of the woman’s genital organs (ovaries, uterus and fallopian tubes) is normalized. The final result of the pharmacological effect of Mastodinon is the normalization of the menstrual cycle and the elimination of infertility caused by excessive secretion of prolactin and the associated deficiency of the corpus luteum.

In addition, as a result of a decrease in prolactin production, a favorable state occurs for the reverse development of fibrocystic mastopathy. However, involution and disappearance of mastopathy occurs with continuous use of Mastodinon for at least 6 weeks, since the reduced level of prolactin production must persist for exactly this period of time.

Indications for use

Mastodinon tablets and drops have the same indications for use, such as:
  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS), manifested by the following disorders - engorgement and painful sensation of tension in the mammary glands, mental lability (mood swings, changeable emotions, etc.), constipation, migraines or headaches;
  • Fibrocystic mastopathy;
  • Menstrual irregularities caused by insufficiency of the corpus luteum;
  • Infertility caused by insufficiency of the corpus luteum.
It should be remembered that Mastodinon drops and tablets are recommended for use as part of complex therapy in combination with other medications.

The solution for mastopathy, PMS and fertility disorders must be taken twice a day, 30 drops, for at least three months. During the period of menstrual bleeding, taking Mastodinon is not interrupted. Drops can be diluted in a small amount of water or washed down. However, to reduce the unpleasant bitter taste, it is recommended to dissolve the drops in water, tea, juice, fruit drink or compote. An overdose of Mastodinon drops and tablets has never been recorded during the entire period of widespread clinical use of the drug.

Drug interactions

Drug interactions between Mastodinon tablets and drops are possible only when used simultaneously with dopamine receptor antagonists (for example, Ganaton, Itomed, Domelium, Domperidone, etc.), which weaken their effect.

Taking Mastodinon – what to choose: drops or tablets

If for some reason a woman wants to completely eliminate alcohol consumption or ethyl alcohol is contraindicated for her, then only Mastodinon tablets should be used. Also, tablets are preferable in the presence of any diseases of the liver, brain, epilepsy or a tendency to alcoholism. However, the tablets are contraindicated if you are intolerant to milk sugar, since they contain lactose as an auxiliary component. In this case, you should choose drops.

Otherwise, there are no differences between drops and tablets, and two dosage forms have been created exclusively for the convenience of women. For example, if someone is uncomfortable or uncomfortable taking pills, they can replace them with drops without loss or reduction in effectiveness. Due to the individual characteristics of the body and psychology, some women find it more convenient and comfortable to use drops, since they are better tolerated, while others, on the contrary, use tablets. If there are no diseases or conditions that require the use of one or another dosage form, then you can choose any one that you like more for subjective reasons.

Some women recommend drops because they subjectively tolerate them better than pills. Other patients, on the contrary, prefer tablets because they feel they more effective than drops. That is, you can and should choose the dosage form of Mastodinon solely according to your own characteristics, guided by personal preferences and feelings.

Mastodinon during pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Mastodinon drops and tablets are contraindicated for use. If a woman becomes pregnant during a course of treatment with Mastodinon, she should immediately stop taking the drug as soon as pregnancy becomes known.

Mastodinon for mastopathy

Mastodinon can only be used to treat benign fibrocystic mastopathy any size. Do not use the drug in the presence of malignant neoplasms of the mammary glands of any stage.

For maximum effective treatment mastopathy Mastodinon can be taken in combination with other medications without adjusting the regimen, dosage and duration of therapy.

Mastodinon is taken 30 drops or one tablet twice a day, for at least three months without breaks. Improvement is usually felt after 6 weeks of using the drug. However, admission continues until complete or significant involution of the formation, determined by the results of ultrasound or mammography. The drug is suitable for long-term use, so a continuous course can be continued until the desired result is achieved. You can also take Mastodinon in regular courses with short breaks between them. The optimal tactics are selected by the doctor together with the woman.

While taking Mastodinon unpleasant symptoms mastopathy (pain, tightness in the chest, discharge of fluid from the nipples, etc.) should gradually decrease and disappear. If this does not happen, then you need to consult a doctor. You should also consult with your doctor about resuming use of Mastodinon if complaints recur after discontinuation of the drug.

Does Mastodinon help you get pregnant?

If difficulties with conception are caused solely by insufficiency of the corpus luteum (the second phase of the menstrual cycle), then Mastodinon can help you get pregnant, since it normalizes the production of sex hormones, thereby eliminating the cause of infertility.

If the inability to conceive, in addition to the insufficiency of the corpus luteum, is associated with some other factors, for example, lack of ovulation, low sperm quality and others, then Mastodinon will not help you get pregnant.

In order to determine whether a woman has corpus luteum deficiency, it is necessary to determine the concentration of hormones (prolactin, FSH, LH) in the blood. If the level of prolactin is increased, then we are talking about a deficiency of the corpus luteum, which can be eliminated by taking Mastodinon, thereby normalizing hormonal background and creating conditions for pregnancy to occur. In such a situation, Mastodinon will help you get pregnant, but in case of infertility caused by other reasons, the drug will be ineffective.

This means that Mastodinon helps you get pregnant only if you have a specific problem, and not in all cases. Therefore, women suffering from infertility should not take Mastodinon just like that, for reasons of “what if it helps”, because despite its natural composition, the drug is very powerful, since it affects the production of hormones that regulate the functioning of the ovaries, and therefore can only aggravate the situation when used not on purpose.

Mastodinon and delayed menstruation

Some of the women who took Mastodinon for various diseases, notes the presence of delayed menstruation and prolongation of the cycle. This situation is associated with the individual reaction of the woman’s body to the drug, which is physiological and does not require any special treatment. Gynecologists believe that delayed menstruation is not associated with taking Mastodinon, but is caused solely by stress or other reasons. That is, a delay in menstruation is not a factor that requires stopping the drug.

In addition, by normalizing the second phase of the menstrual cycle, Mastodinon restores a woman’s fertility, which increases her chances of pregnancy. Accordingly, a woman can become pregnant, which, in turn, will cause a delay in menstruation. Moreover, based on clinical observations we can conclude that women often become pregnant while taking Mastodinon.

Therefore, if a woman takes Mastodinon and has unprotected sex, then if menstruation is delayed, she should first take a pregnancy test.

Side effects

Mastodinon in any dosage form It is generally well tolerated by women and rarely causes side effects. The most common side effects of Mastodinon drops and tablets are various allergic reactions. In very rare cases, Mastodinon may cause the following adverse reactions:
  • Increase in body weight within 1 – 3 kg;
  • Itchy exanthema;
  • Acne on the skin of the face and body;
  • Headache;
  • Transient psychomotor agitation;
  • Temporary confusion and hallucinations.
If a woman notices the appearance of psychomotor agitation, confusion or hallucinations while taking Mastodinon, then she should discontinue the drug and consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Contraindications for use

Mastodinon drops and tablets are contraindicated for use if a woman has the following diseases or conditions:
  • Pregnancy;
  • Breastfeeding period;
  • Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug;
  • The girl's age is under 12 years;
  • Malignant neoplasms of the mammary glands;
  • Lactose intolerance caused by hereditary galactose intolerance, genetic lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose and galactose (only for tablets, since they contain lactose as auxiliary components).

Currently, on the pharmaceutical market of the CIS countries there are only drugs analogues of Mastodinon, which have similar therapeutic effects, but contain other active components. Mastodinon - reviews

Women take Mastodinon in the vast majority of cases for two conditions - mastopathy and premenstrual syndrome with painful periods. However, since they are often combined, or women, taking the drug for one reason, notice its positive effect on the menstrual cycle or breast condition, it is almost impossible to separate the reviews thematically. Therefore, let’s look at the general reviews about Mastodinon, which are positive in approximately 70% of cases and negative in 30% of cases.

Positive reviews about Mastodinon are associated with its ability to eliminate pain and tension in the chest, as well as reduce the volume of fibrocystic mastopathy. Thus, women noted that with the use of Mastodinon, pain in the mammary glands went away, swelling was eliminated and, accordingly, the quality of life improved, since it became possible to walk normally, play sports, sleep in a comfortable position and generally touch the breasts without expecting strong pain. With a course of use (from 3 to 6 months), the volume of fibrocystic mastopathy, as a rule, decreases, less often disappears completely or does not change. After several repeated courses of taking Mastodinon, according to reviews, mastopathy completely disappears and the achieved effect remains for a long period of time.

Also, positive reviews about Mastodinon are associated with its ability to eliminate premenstrual syndrome, reduce pain during menstruation and normalize the cycle. Many women note that the drug was taken for mastopathy, but as a pleasant “side effect” it normalized the cycle and made menstruation painless and short. However, all patients note that for the effect to appear, Mastodinon must be taken for a long time, since the drug is homeopathic.

The advantages of Mastodinon for women include effectiveness, a convenient bottle dispenser with drops, natural composition, increased appetite, weight gain, as well as a small number of contraindications and side effects. Patients consider the disadvantages of the drug to be relatively high cost, unpleasant taste and the need for long-term use.

Negative reviews about Mastodinon were left by women for whom the drug did not help eliminate the problem. However, a characteristic quality of even negative reviews is their goodwill, since women indicate that Mastodinon did not help them, but for many others, drops or tablets turned out to be an effective remedy that solved the problem. From this fact, women conclude that Mastodinon, like any other homeopathic remedy, has an individual effect, and therefore it helps some and not others.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the campaign to discredit Mastodinon, during which information is being disseminated that the drug is banned in Europe and the USA because it causes the growth of fibroids and endometrial pathology, and is generally not a medicine with proven effectiveness. This information causes an emotional reaction in women, and they leave information about Mastodinon negative feedback, motivated by pharmaceutical companies conducting experiments on them.

However, in reality everything is not so simple. Indeed, from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine, all homeopathic medicines do not have clearly proven effectiveness, but this does not mean that it does not exist at all. In addition, homeopathic remedies in the USA and Europe are not classified as medicines, so they are sold in pharmacies without prescriptions, like vitamins or dietary supplements. But there is no ban on these drugs anywhere, and they are used in a variety of situations, not only for the direct indications specified in the instructions, and this is done in all countries - Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, the USA and Europe. After all, everywhere there is a group of so-called off-label prescriptions, that is, conditions in which doctors prescribe this or that drug for a reason not specified in the instructions and based on their own conclusions and assumptions, and not evidence of its effectiveness. Moreover, in many cases, a person feels better and his quality of life increases while taking a drug with unproven effectiveness.

Mastodinon belongs to the homeopathic group of medicines. This drug can be produced in the form of tablets or drops. The minimum course of treatment with this drug should be at least 3 months of daily use. What reviews do patients leave about this medicine? Let's look at them.

Mastodinon is used to treat:

Let's look at the reviews of women who took this drug.

Reviews from patients who took Mastodinon

“I was prescribed Mastodinon drops at the cancer hospital. There I have been registered with a mammologist for a year for a cyst in the right mammary gland. Before purchasing this drug, I thought about what to choose: drops or tablets. I decided to buy drops, their price turned out to be 500 rubles per bottle. At the same time, I started taking vitamins prescribed by my mammologist.

I diligently took Mastodinon 30 drops twice a day. My cyst was still there, but it had improved noticeably, which still upset me. However, the monthly pain on the eve of my period disappeared (and I was tormented by excruciating pain for 2 weeks each cycle!). Throughout the entire course of treatment there was mild constipation, but after stopping the medication everything improved.

For me, the good thing about the drug is that it is based on herbal ingredients. Its effect is mild, develops gradually, the characteristic effect of accumulation and development of addiction does not cause.”

Anastasia

“The drug Mastodinon is a Hungarian homeopathic remedy. The medicine is based on plants, and among its components there are no plant analogues of female hormones. This medicine affects the organs endocrine system, thereby provoking a decrease in the synthesis of prolactin by the pituitary gland and affecting the formation of the corpus luteum in the ovaries.

Reviews from women about this medication are different. This medicine is quite widely used, allergic reactions have not been identified. When the prescribed doses are used correctly, the effect is felt by the woman after a month of treatment. The drug eliminates unpleasant symptoms before menstruation (pain in the mammary glands, headaches).

However, according to some reviews from patients, negative effects such as the appearance of acne and weight gain may occur. These effects do not depend on the duration of use of the drug. However, needless to say that this side effect of this drug? In my opinion, these changes may be due to the effects of medications prescribed in parallel (for example, for infertility), most often of a hormonal nature.

It is also possible to develop undesirable effects due to hormonal imbalances in a woman’s body, which may be caused by a decrease in progesterone levels. In general, the drug is quite effective, proven, and reliable. It can be considered a safe and effective remedy for combating mammary gland pathologies and hormonal imbalances.”

Alexandra Igorevna, in gynecologist

It turned out that I cannot use iodine, since I still have a pathology of the endocrine system (thyroid gland). Mastodinon was then prescribed. I was immediately scared, since it is issued by prescription, and I sinfully thought that I would need money to solve this problem - the need to take hormonal medications. However, it turned out that this medication refers to homeopathic properties, and not to hormones. She treated the treatment with full responsibility. After just two months, I forgot what I was complaining about in the first place.”

Svetlana

“Eternal nervous stress affects a woman’s health in such a way that sometimes it can become the cause of various pathologies. This happened to me too. My menstrual cycle was off for 3 months. Not having your period for such a long period of time is definitely scary. Finally, the opportunity arose to see a doctor, since all three of my children were visiting their grandmother.

After a medical examination and ultrasound, I was diagnosed with endometriosis with a slight inflammatory process. My doctor chose a step-by-step treatment with the first priority being the restoration of the menstrual cycle. At first I attributed it to Duphaston - expensive, but effective drug. Then Mastodinon was prescribed, which I have been taking for the second month. These tablets turned out to be very effective in my case. At the end of the first month of taking Mastodinon, I can conclude that my cycle has almost recovered (although there is still a failure of 10 days). Pain during menstruation has also decreased.

From personal experience, I can say that this homeopathic remedy is very effective, however, as with all other medications, no one is immune from side effects (although I tolerated it well). The only note: start drinking Mastodinon only according to your doctor’s recommendations, and not on your own.”

Olga

«
I took Mastodinon for about two months because of a cyst in my right breast. After finishing the appointment, I did an ultrasound, which revealed multiple cysts on both sides.

After stopping taking the drug, the microflora below changed, and even before my period I began to feel not very good. Although while taking Mastodinon, the cycle is regular, correct, and a surge of strength and energy is felt.”

Marina

“Mastopathy is the most common form of female breast disease. Most often, this pathology develops in representatives of the fair sex at a young age. After a preliminary examination of the patient, cysts and local thickening of the breast tissue were identified. Then came the operation. Thus, I had a chance to try a bunch of drugs for women.

I used Mastodinon several times in courses (3 weeks minimum). He was impeccably helpful every time. About a month after the start of treatment it goes away pain syndrome, then under the influence of the medicine the swelling decreases.

The last time a course of Mastodinon was prescribed was to eliminate the cyst, as well as compaction. After another course of Mastodinon, the cyst disappeared.

I recommend this medication as effective remedy to normalize the menstrual cycle and treat breast pathologies.

Perhaps the drug may not be suitable for everyone and the effectiveness will be different for everyone. The action of this medication appears in 15-20 days.”

Marina

Let's sum it up

In conclusion, we can say that, of course, reviews on the Internet are quite different.

However, the drug Mastodinon is considered an effective homeopathic remedy against pathological changes in the chest, premenstrual syndrome, cycle disorders. Of course, like any drug, Mastodinon has its advantages and disadvantages.

However, practice shows that in general the drug is quite well tolerated and practically does not cause the development of side effects of the drug.

Mastodinon is intended for a long course of treatment of pathologies reproductive system body. It contains biologically active substances in minimal dosages. This drug should be prescribed by a specialist.

Greetings!

Today I will share my impressions of the homeopathic drug Mastodinon. I've been using it for 10 years. For the first time it was prescribed to me, as expected, by a mammologist.

Diagnosis: fibrocystic mastopathy.

I have always used only drops, although tablets are probably more convenient, but absorption is also lower.

general information

Indications for use

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) manifested by the following disorders - engorgement and painful sensation of tension in the mammary glands, mental lability (mood swings, changeable emotions, etc.), constipation, migraines or headaches; Fibrocystic mastopathy;

Menstrual irregularities caused by insufficiency of the corpus luteum;

Infertility caused by insufficiency of the corpus luteum.

There is a disclaimer in the testimony

Since Mastodinon drops contain alcohol, they should not be used by people suffering from liver disease, brain disease, epilepsy, or after successful treatment for alcoholism.

Composition of Mastodinone

Mode of application

I use the drops an hour after meals, since when used half an hour before meals, I have my stomach starts to hurt.

I usually dilute 30 drops in water and drink it. I drink it at lunch and in the evening.

Taste of Mastodinon

To my taste, they are quite pleasant, they have a herbaceous taste, somewhat reminiscent of green pea leaves.

How and when to use Mastodinon drops

When I was first prescribed these drops, there was a clearly defined period - 2 months plus the use of Progestogel gel (from 16 to 25 days of the cycle), plus Vetoron drops.

Improvement is usually felt after 6 weeks of using the drug.
While taking Mastodinon, unpleasant symptoms of mastopathy (pain, tightness in the chest, fluid discharge from the nipples, etc.)

At the next visit to the doctor, since no improvement was visible on ultrasound, it was prescribed to use mastodinon for chest pain and use progestogel. And it will probably be like this all my life.

I have been living with my mastopathy since 2002. And she didn’t disappear anywhere. There have already been two births, which, by the way, thanks to breastfeeding, improved my condition, but still I can’t say goodbye to mastopathy completely.

Bottom line: I always have Mastodinone in my medicine cabinet.

But this is not a miracle drug that will get rid of mastopathy. For me personally, it's like a pain reliever.

I start taking drops only when my chest hurts and the progestogen doesn’t help much.

Three days are usually enough- the pain goes away, menstruation (or bleeding) begins. And everything would be fine, but it can start at absolutely the wrong time - it could even be the middle of the cycle. It all depends on when your chest hurts.

This happens rarely, the breasts can get sore even on the 10-12th day of the cycle, the pain is quite severe, what can you do?.. Just drink Mastodinon and smear the breasts with progestogel. Moreover, take less liquid of any kind - this helps to contract the milk ducts and reduce pain.

Price

My last purchase of mastodinone cost me 585 rubles, I think this is not enough!

By the way

I noticed that these products increase chest pain if it is already present.

Let me summarize

For myself personally, I drew conclusions:

Mastodinon helps with chest pain

Eliminates PMS

May cause menstruation (or bleeding)

It does not treat mastopathy, but relieves its symptoms.

I cannot advise Mastodinon; the drug is controversial, given the huge number of both negative and positive feedback on it on the Internet.

Let the doctor decide whether you should take it or not, and then decide according to your own feelings.

Diffuse fibrocystic mastopathy is a fairly common female disease caused by hormonal imbalances. According to reviews of women with this diagnosis, Mastodinon is considered one of the popular remedies for getting rid of the disease. Is the drug a safe and effective medicine for the treatment of this pathology?

Description of Mastodinon

The homeopathic medicine Mastodinon does not contain hormones. It is able to fight mastopathy in the early stages of the disease and with minor changes in the breast tissue. The medicine is widely used in the CIS countries, but its effectiveness has not been proven clinically.

Under the influence of Mastodinon, lumps in the mammary glands disappear, but it does not reduce the size of the cysts.

The effect of the drug is due to its main component - sacred vitex. The plant has the property of reducing prolactin levels and leads to the reverse development of pathological changes in the female breast. Vitex reduces swelling of the mammary glands, their hardening and pain. With prolonged use, the condition of the glandular tissue returns to normal.

Other herbal components have an analgesic and calming effect during PMS, normalize the menstrual cycle and help get pregnant.

Mastopathy develops as a result of a violation of a woman’s hormonal status and an increase in prolactin levels. The disease manifests itself as benign changes in the mammary glands, such as compactions (fibrosis), nodes and cysts. Prolactin also causes dilation of the milk ducts and swelling, soreness of the breasts before menstruation.

In addition to mastopathy, indications for use of the product are:

  • increased levels of the hormone prolactin in the blood;
  • soreness of the mammary glands before menstruation;
  • infertility caused by ovarian failure;
  • pain before menstruation;
  • unspecified menstrual irregularity.

Video about the drug

The drug is available in 2 forms: tablets of 60 or 120 pieces, as well as drops in a dark glass dropper bottle of 30, 50 and 100 ml.

Hello! I am 22 years old. I went to the doctor with chest pain. They did an ultrasound and said that I had diffuse 2-sided mastopathy. They prescribed Mastodinon, which I obediently took for 3 months, and, naturally, I was waiting for at least some results. As a result: the pain remained, in addition, the thickness of the glandular tissue increased from 16.9 and 15.6 mm to 19.8 and 20 mm, with the norm being 14 mm. What to do next?

Mastodinon is a truly wonderful non-hormonal German (high-quality) drug that belongs to medicines over-the-counter type. It's no secret that over-the-counter herbal medicines, freely sold in pharmacies, a priori assume safe formulas created on a plant basis, but unfortunately, with not always sufficient (albeit scientifically proven in strictly specific cases) effectiveness.

In fact, the insidiousness of fibrotic disease lies in the fact that in certain cases a woman can be helped by:

  • Proper diet
  • Lifestyle correction.
  • Taking certain dietary supplements, herbal medicines, physiotherapeutic treatment, etc.

But, in some cases, such therapeutic tactics may not be enough. And then, doctors have to adjust the treatment, in accordance with the reactions of a particular female body for the initial procedures. Sometimes mastopathy can progress quite quickly, requiring hormonal or even surgical treatment. And believe me, the point here is definitely not the qualifications or experience of your doctor.

Most practicing doctors, quite rightly, do not prescribe primary manifestations powerful mastopathy hormonal drugs, trying to correct the well-being of patients using simpler and gentler methods.

The real problem is the unpredictability of fibrocystic mastopathy as a disease. By taking Mastodinon, patients can be guaranteed to rid themselves of the not-so-pleasant manifestations of premenstrual syndrome (for example, irritability, anxiety, sudden mood swings, perhaps increased appetite, swelling, moderate pain in the chest or lower abdomen). However, this drug does not always cope with the real manifestations of mastopathy.

Answering our reader’s question: “What to do next?” The following tactics can be recommended:

  • First of all, it is important to calm down and understand that you can only trust a doctor in the treatment of mastopathy - self-medication or treatment from psychics, traditional healers and other healers is unacceptable. This means that it is the doctor who is seeing the patient who should adjust further treatment.
  • Be prepared that the treatment may last significantly longer than three months, and again, do not panic if the results do not come immediately.
  • For your part, make every effort to normalize your lifestyle. It is important, in this case, not only to give up any bad habits, you will have to monitor the quality of nutrition, sleep and wakefulness. Be sure to pay attention to moderate physical activity, full healthy sex.
  • It is advisable to reconsider the patient’s attitude towards childbirth together with the doctor. Perhaps it is in this case (when the patient is 22 years old and mastopathy first made itself felt) that the birth of a child (or even two) may be the best solution to the problem of fibrocystic manifestations.

Our resource wishes the reader a speedy recovery, peace of mind and trust in her doctor.
